In a grand culmination of a month-long creative writing workshop, Regent Residential School is set to host Coffee House 2081, an exciting event celebrating student creativity and storytelling on 18 the Asoj (4th October). Over 1,000 students participated in the workshop, which was led by the school’s Nepali and English language teachers. The initiative aimed to develop the students’ creative writing skills through an immersive process that involved crafting stories from unconventional materials.
Students brought assorted items from home, ranging from broken pens and old toothbrushes to discarded toys and were randomly assigned these objects to inspire their storywriting. They then worked on transforming these objects into the foundation of their narrative concepts and in some cases, the objects are the main character of the story.
Under the guidance of language teachers, the students developed their initial story drafts, focusing on character creation, plot development, and setting design. The workshop sessions were held during regular language classes, while the rest of the school curriculum proceeded as usual. The students followed a structured process of drafting, editing, and revising their work before preparing a final version. In the end, they compiled their stories into illustrated booklets.
To celebrate the completion of this creative journey, the school has organized the Regent Coffee House Day 2081, where students will present their stories in a lively and engaging environment. Visitors will be treated to coffee while enjoying the students’ story presentations. The event promises to offer a vibrant atmosphere with welcoming décor and a photo booth to enhance the experience.
The school has already informed parents via various media platforms and extended an invitation to other interested guests. With over 2,000 students and parents expected to attend, Coffee House 2081 is set to be a remarkable event, showcasing the passion and dedication of Regent’s young writers.
