Namaste, Today me Angel Shahi a students of grade-7 “Lumbini” am presenting my experience in meeting our late Satya Mohan Joshi. Before that I would like to start by saying a short biography on him.

Satya Mohan Joshi is a legendary person of Nepal who was born in the year 1920 may 12. He was born to father Shankar Raj Joshi and mother Raj Kumar Joshi in Lalitpur Nepal. Having learnt his first alphabets at home, he later was enrolled at Durbar High School in Kathmandu. At an early age of 17, he was married to Radha Devi Shrestha of Patan with whom he had two kids Anu Raj Joshi and Purna Raj Joshi. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree from Tri Chandra Multiple Campus Satya Mohan Joshi was a Nepalese writer and scholar. He is mostly known for his research on the history and culture of Nepal. He also served as the chancellor of Nepal Bhasa. He has published more than 60 publications in various fields which includes Hamro lok Sanskriti, Charumati, Sunkeshari etc. Satya Mohan Joshi is also the first director of Archeological and cultural Department.  He is also the person who had established Rastriya Naach Ghar. After publishing many great books he was then awarded with Madan Puraskar for 3 times, Bhanubhakta award, Padmashree sadhana Award etc. 

Satya Mohan Joshi was an active person in the field of different programs. He often used to be the chief guests in different programs. One time I myself got a chance to meet this legendary person at World Environment Day program which was orgnized by The Central Zoo. As Being a member of FOZ (Friends of ZOO) I had gone to that program as a representative from my school (Everest English School) . As our school’s elder brothers and sisters had participated in different FOZ competitions such as poem writing, essay writing report writing, model making etc. they got awarded with prizes from Satya Mohan Joshi. At firth when I got to know that the chief  guest of the program was Satya Mohan Joshi I was very happy and excited. There along present. In that program he also gave a speech. In the speech he mentioned, “The population of world and the pollution of the world is increasing day by day. When I was a kid the Lalitpur district was filled with greenery with trees all around the place hut nowadays its. filled with dust and smoke. we human beings are considered the smartest creatures yet we are polluting the environment. Not just on World Environment Day but every single day we should plant trees and clean the environment. “ He mentioned all of this in our National Language, Nepal Getting a chance to meet him was a dream come true.

He us also given the title “The man of the century’ as he lived up to 103 years. Sadly, he died at the age of 103 in 2022 October 16 in lalitpur, Nepal. As showing gratitude towards Satya Mohan Joshi one day holiday was provided all over Nepal by the Nepalese Government. Lastly, I want to end my presentation by thanking Satya Mohan Joshi for letting us know about the history  and culture of Nepal and for all the contribution he made in the field of literature.
